front suspension problem.

I took my 2004 4 cylinder accord to get a set of tires for the front and when I left the tire shop I noticed it was riding very bouncy. Its stock height so it shouldnt be bouncy at all. I got out and noticed its dropped from the driver side. The tire is almost tucking the fender. The passenger side is fine. I can fit 4 fingers under the passenger and almost 1 finger on the driver. What would cause this to happen by just lifting the car to change out the tires. And how do you fix it?

Re: front suspension problem.

Someone has to know and have a explanation why the shock just dropped by lifting the car. This has happened before but on my 99 acura rl. Parked it in the driveway and walked away. Went back 20 minutes later and its starting to go back up to stock height on its own. What's causing it to drop when I drive it?

Maybe they dropped the car hard, and it blew the shock. Check for fluid leaking from the shock. Maybe the shock was about to go anyway. Bring the car back to them, and show them what happened.

Did they to an alignment? I realize that shouldn't cause the problem, but who knows what might have been inadvertently loosened.

Yeah I got alligned too. But they shouldn't of messed with the shocks. This morning its back to stock height on its own. Drove it to work and it rides like crap bouncing every where. Got to work and it dropped again and almost tucking the fender.

Come on somene has to know why its doing this. I inspected the shock for oil and its not leaking any.

You have to have a broken coil spring, if the shock blew out completely the car would still sit where it was or possibly only down a tiny bit.

I took the shock out complety to inspect it and no leaks and coils are good too. Im guessing its something internal in the shock. Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on this. If its possible that that shock can go bad by just lifting the car with a jack to change out tires.

I had a similar issue on my 06. Went to dealer for routine maintenance and after we got it back, whenever going over speedbumps there was a loud banging from the front.
Took it back to dealer and they said its a semi common problem in warmer climates with older shocks, sometimes the full extension when raised for service will cause premature failure. They even had a TSB type letter all official. I complained, they ended up paying for the parts and charging me for labor to replace.

Basically, I think your strut blew.

a shock shouldn't cause a 2" drop. If the coil is good. You need to look at the control arm bushings either they were loosened or they are damaged.

Something has to be broken, or very loose. If you are not going to take it back to the tire shop, inspect it yourself. Check every bushing, bolt, and joint on the suspension, using a crowbar to pry between parts. Jack up the entire car, then jack that side of the suspension up and down. They could have dropped the car off the jack real hard, and something snapped.

I have inspected every inch of the suspension. Everthing is in its place. I know it has to do with the shock, I just dont know why or how its hapening.

Re: front suspension problem.

Im guessing the strut fork is loose and the strut/shock is sliding up and down. Try tighting the bolt and see if that fixes your issue.

That's why you need to pry between connections to make sure they are secure. If you can get the suspension to collapse, using a jack, it should be evident where the problem is. Everything could look normal, without the suspension loaded.
