Icon6 check engine light....

I found out the problem is my camshaft position sensor. Does anyone have any prior experience replacing this part?

Very rarely is the CMP the actual problem. It is possible that your vehicle has experienced timing chain stretch or misalignment. The CMP is very easy to change. How many miles are on your vehicle and how long have you owned it? Do you know of any prior work/ issues that might have damaged the CMP? BTW what codes are present in you PCM?

4-cyl has 2 cam sensors. I have replaced a couple here and there. They hardly ever go bad, but it sounds like yours needs replaced. What code are you getting?

is the CMP the camshaft position sensor? I have a timing belt, no chain. I have 150k. I've had it since DEC06, I have no prior records of this cars maintenance.

What is BTW and PCM? I understand that the camshaft sensor plays an important role to have a regular idle, and it regulates some other things as well.
I had my buddy run diagnostics and it's the only thing that came up.

Do you have DTC P0341? If not then what?
If your car is 03 4 cylinder then your car definitley has a timing chain and not a timing belt.
CMP= Camshaft Position sensor
BTW=by the way. PCM Powertrain Control Module aka computer.

There are 2 CMPs THey are named CMP A and CMP B.

What is the code?

ok, I was confusing the altenator belt with the timing chain. If you are familiar with the 03 2.4 vtech engine it's the sensor to the right of the block, I have no clue what the code is.
