what does a -456 beeping and flashing light on the dash of a 2012 crosstour mean???

It is probably the Maintenance Minder indicator. If you do not perform the indicated maintenance, negative distance traveled is displayed and begins to blink after the vehicle has been driven 10 miles (10 km) or more.
