So, my ABS and TCS lights are on in my car. I took it to the mechanic and he said I needed to change the brake pads. I did that, but they are still on, and now, the check engine light comes on, and my car will be stuck at idle (it won't accelerate). I took it to him again, and he said the throttle was giving out and was causing me all those problems, but when I googled it I found several other people with similar acceleration issues that were fixed by replacing the accelerator sensor on the car. I could really use your advice on what to do, since replacing the throttle is ridiculously expensive, while the accelerator is a much easier fix.

Im so sorry that you have a complete and utter moron as a "mechanic".

Everything he has told you so far has been bullshit. Never go back to him again. Remember,if hes cheap, you get what you pay for.

Now on to your problems. You need a scanner capable of pulling the ABS and or check engine light codes to know where to start. But given what you describe and my experience,it does sound like your APP sensor has failed. It is located under the hood on the passenger side fire wall. It is under a cover and has a cable attached to it.

I dont know if its bad, this is purely guess on my part, but an educated one.
