Default Advice

Can anyone make a recommendation as to what my first car upgrade should be? i bought a 2011 2DR White Accord V6 back in June, stock.

Tint? Lower? Sound? Interior Lighting? Performance?

I would have done wheels first but the stocks it came with were pretty good so im holding off until spring.

any and all would help, thanks.

Happy Friday!!!

F it, do it all It all depends on budget and what your overall goal is for the car. For a DD, I would leave the performance aspect last (if at all) and depending on your location (road and weather conditions), I may also leave the ride height alone. IMO, I'd start with the tint and go from there....

Tint, because it's good to have and winter is here so shops are not that busy on tint work = taking more time with your car. Tint is also cheap it's not something you need to save up and can get it done now.

Oddly, I agree with tint. It was my first mod too. In the summer it keeps the inside of your car cooler and the rest of the time it is a theft preventitive. If someone can't see in, they won't likely steal anything. My next mod was adding an Escort 9500ix radar detector. If I get a speeding or red light tickets, that will take away from future mods, so that was my second mod.

NOTE: Make sure to check state laws for how dark tint you can have.

Tint is also a safety issue too. When the car hits you from the side, the glass will go into a million pieces and on to your face. With a tint film, it can help keep it in place.

Steve - i completely agree with cosmetics first and performance last, that was my train of thought all along. I live in suburban Pittsburgh so its hills and potholes, i think dropping it will have to wait its time.

Crashmaster - very good advice for the radar, defintaley have that on my list now. PA is stupid with all its laws so i belive 30% is the highest you can go but ive heard people getting away with 35/40%

GoLow - i never thought of tint companies like that but i definatley makes sense to get it done when more time will be spent on your car.

thanks for the input you 3, very helpful for a new car enthusiast who doesnt know much (my last car was a mercury sable, no point in doing anything to that).

My plan is to get the tint done this weekend or next, then get winter tires. After that im kind of torn between HID's and interior lighting. Wheels were an idea but the car came with 18" alloys so i figure i can wait until spring for new ones...no point in getting them now if i cant ride on them in the winter.

Im going to post a pic once i do get it tinted, in the meantime keep me posted if you guys got anything else for me.

thanks for your help, have a great week!!!

Your 2011 18" wheels command a premium every day of the week. Think about it before you sell them. And don't let them go for cheap.

I bought a Takeda Intake system for my '12 V6 at 3000 miles. (Toss out Factory warranty out the window) I think that is the best mod you can get performance wise. I paid around $300. Aside from that lowering the car is not going to happen since it will result in uneven tire wear and problems down the road. I'm still planning on a megan catback system, but that is down the road since its expensive. HID is the next addition since stock headlights suck.

Cold air intake and tint, fairly cheap and safe mods.

If you plan on doing HID's and you don't have projector lenses have someone make them for you. Also for the J series engines one of the best performance mods you can do is an exhaust as the stock is restrictive, others have found that a custom 3 inch single exit exhuast is better than a dual for these engines. If you have any skills of making your own parts look into piecing together a 4 inch intake instead of buying one, much cheaper (about $100 for all the parts) and can make more power. Brakes are also a good choice as well, I know the brakes on the 7th gen aren't as good as they could be.

Good luck!
