help for a DIY about spark plugs
hey guys,
am new here and i wanted to work on my spark plugs so to replace them...
its a honda accord 2006 hybrid
well questions: do i have to set a voltage for them when i finish replacing them? and does the spark plugs brand will have an effect on the gas consumption MPG?
thank you

Re: help for a DIY about spark plugs
I suggest using either NGK or Denso plugs (OEM). The long life iridium plugs should be good for 100k miles. The gap on the plugs should be set from the factory. I'm not sure if the hybrid uses a different plug from the regular V6. The plugs are supposed to be torqued to 13 ft lbs, I believe. Don't use anti-seize on the NGK or Denso plugs.

Too bad I didn't find out this information, until shortly after I changed my plugs. Oh well, I'm not taking them back out now.

I will say I used anti seize on my last install, was careful putting them in, but I had the timing belt done by honda so I hope the mechanic did not go overboard with the plugs putting them back in.

Re: help for a DIY about spark plugs
I used a torque wrench, so I know I didn't overtighten them. Could have done without it though, had I known beforehand. I can always still use the anti-seize on other things, like plugs in my truck, cause it's just getting regular Autolites. Now I want to get a tap to clean the old stuff off the threads next time the plugs are changed. We'll see if I still have the car, with 200k miles on it.
