55k miles, 2004 accord, time to do service?
My car is a 2004 accord, 55k miles. change oil regularly, change tires few months ago. called dealer and was told that i should have done service at 30k miles, 45k miles, and major service at 60k miles. do we really have to do the service so frequently? thanks

There are things that need to be checked. If you are not going to check them yourself, you have to pay someone else to do it. I have an 03 V6 Accord, and I needed to change the rear brake pads at 47k miles, so I would say yours need to be checked out at this point.
The problem you run into, when you have to rely on someone else to inspect the car, is you are going to end up having things replaced before it's necessary. Take brake pads for example: Say you bring your car into the dealership, and the tech checks your pad-wear. He determines that the front pads should last another 7-10k miles. He will more than likely say they need changing now, rather than tell you to come back in another 6k miles, so he can check them again.

Usually a 30k is a oil change, brake inspection, tire rotation, transmission drain and refill, and your basic safety inspection points and top offs.

Yeah it's extra. say you go in for a 57.5k service, and your brakes are at the point where honda will recommend to replace brakes ( at 2mm). If you just need pads, they'll charge you for parts and labor on the pads and the 57.5k service (depending on how much your dealership charges). If you need your rotors resurfaced, then add labor to that; vise versa.
Oh, I work at Honda so feel free to ask any questions

So a 60k service is similiar to the 30k service. Because Honda sent me a letter in the mail stating according to their records my car is due for the 60k service. It gave no price or no anything about what it entails Why bother to bring the car in for nothing especially when I already had an oil change, tranmission fluid change and brakes are fine.
