Default 3,000 Mile Road trip prep?

Yeah yeah, another road trip prep thread. Oh well.
Basically, I've got a 2006 Honda Accord LX 4cyl nearing 93,000 miles, and I'm somewhat worried about taking it on this 3,000 mile road trip, considering the longest "road trip" it's been on thus far, is about 370 miles total... yeah...

Here's a list of things I'm going to get done before the trip. If there's anything else I'm missing, please tell me.

-Change oil
-Change Coolant
-New wiper inserts
-Clean & Adjust rear drum brakes
-Replace serpentine belt
-Check air in tires/spare

My other fluids have been done relatively recently. -Tranny, PS, Brake fluid -Engine air filter, as well as cabin air filter have also been recently replaced.

I'm also going to have an independent mechanic check out my upper control arms, because about 10,000 miles ago, the Honda dealer told me they need to be replaced... 99.9% sure my UCA's are fine.

-Change oil - Do this on your normal schedule, if its not due now, don't change it.
-Change Coolant - Not needed if its running fine.
-New wiper inserts - Not needed if they wipe fine. Spend your $$ on some Rain-X instead.
-Clean & Adjust rear drum brakes - Not needed if they work fine now.
-Replace serpentine belt - Is this still in good shape? Not needed if it is.
-Check air in tires/spare - This is a good idea.

Basically, if your car is running fine now don't worry about it. Unless there is something that is right on its service interval, you need not worry taking a car on a 3000 mile trip.

My Accord has over 320K miles on it and I would take it on a 3000 miles trip right now as it sits. As long as its running fine, your car should be ok.

Me personally, I would carry a spare alternator and some spare belts and necessary tools to replace those things.

Actually, I may need new brake shoes and turn or replace the drums. Driving down the highway and braking from about 60, there's pretty significant vibration from the rear. Also, I've started getting intermittent squealing from the rear... I thought drum brakes were supposed to last a long time.... But then again, my Accord sees heavy stop and go driving.

I would say tires are the biggest thing. Sleep and coffee are the next two. And have fun.

Agreed, tires are the most important, sleep is the next. If everything else is fine, just leave it as is.

Where are you going to? Have a fun and safe trip!

Dan.
