Icon6 2008 Accord Cylinders 2 and 3 Mystery

Ok, I'm back again. P302, cylinder 2 misfire. The local Honda dealership is killing me and keeps charging $200 for this problem. Every 18,000 miles I'm getting the P302. I've used Sunoco gas every fillup per the dealership's recommendation. Still P302 every 18k miles.

So now I'm changing the plugs myself to skip the mandatory diagnostics and spark plug replacement they always do to suck $200+ out of my pocket. I changed all 6 plugs and 2 were noticeably more worn than the others. Cylinders 2 and 3 although I'm only getting the P302 code.

Plug #2 has oil all over it. Plug #3 has a white ashy look to it. What is the real problem here? What do I need to be looking for in order to get to the bottom of this problem? Still losing 1.5-1.75 quarts of oil every 1k miles and I imagine plug #2 may have something to do with that!??!

The other 4 plugs actually looked pretty good but I replaced them anyways. Car runs great now with the exception of it's a little noisy. 125k miles.

Thanks.

I recall Honad have a TSB about making the VCM kick in less. Maybe that would help, some?

You got 125K on a 08, so I assume you do a lot of hwy driving.

Thanks for the response. I do about 80% highway driving. I did their oil consumption test and they just kept saying they couldn't interpret the results. Even my dumb butt could do the math and see I was burning 1.25 - 1.75 quarts of oil every 1000 miles. I hate this car with a passion and it will be the 1st & last Honda I ever purchase. Worse purchase I made in a long time.
