Default 2006 Hybrid a good choice?

I'm looking at buying a used 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid because that's the first year it has Electronic Stability Control, and they stopped making this model with a hybrid engine in 2007.

My question: was there any reason they stopped making hybrids in this line that I should know about? At the Wikipedia's Accord site it says that Honda's stated reason was that "hybrids work better in smaller cars", or something to that effect. I'm also concerned about the extent to which it will be harder to get good service on a discontinued model. (The reason I'm not looking at a smaller Honda is because I'm 6'4", so I need the extra head and legroom.)

Thanks for any insights anyone can give me; I'm interested in this vehicle because it has such good reliability ratings according to Consumer Reports' Used Car Guide.

I looked at one and didn't buy it after considering the whole what would happen if it hag 100,000 miles on it and broke thing. I have a feeling that they only person who could work on it would be a dealer (screw that idea). The MPGs aren't that much better really considering what i would expect out of a hybrid-especially on the highway. But that's not what hybrids were made for anyway.

I thougth to save the worry I would just buy good 'ol regualr Honda.

They stopped making them because they didn't sell many. Only 25k were sold between 04 and 07. They only got one more mpg than the 4cyl version...

...yea...the point was V6 performance with 4 cylinder fuel economy. They had a faster 0-60 time than the regular V6 accords, but you could also cruise and get VERY good mileage...

It wasn't supposed to be a miserly hybrid, it was an attempt at offering power with eco-friendly labeling to appeal to people who didn't want to step down to an economy-car size like the Civic or Prius hybrids.

Anyone who can spend 32k on an accord shouldn't be worried about gas and anyone who cares that much about gas milege isn't going to spend 32k...I see what they were trying to do but the market for such a car just isn't there.

How about this, the reason they stopped making them is because there wasn't a high demand for them, there's nothing wrong with them.

They are very, very good cars that get decent gas mileage. If you want a quite, smooth ride, with loads of options and plenty of power it makes a lot of sense. I would look for one that is Certified Used, that way if you have any problems you would be covered. But from my experience (I work at a dealership) they have been very, very reliable.

Also, cost for work varies from dealership to dealership, but here we are pretty cheap, any work done on the car has a warranty in case there is a problem, and most of our techs have been here 5-10 years if not longer. After working at a dealership, there is no way I would let anyone else do work on my car, unless it was me.
