My (driver side) condenser (mechanic told me this was condenser, from what i'm seeing this is radiator fan, can anyone confirm?) fan won't run all the time. It normally kicks on and off as it pleases, though if it is not working, I can tap it with the butt of a screwdriver and it will turn on, but there is always a chance it turns off, especially when I am stopped. Obviously the motor is still working at some times, it's just a matter of why it doesn't work all the time.

I brought my car to a shop for a 120k tuneup and was quoted around $500 to fix it. I feel like this might be a bit excessive, but am having trouble coming up with the reason why this is happening. I'm assuming there is some kind of electrical short or issue, but I am not a wiring whiz so am a bit hesitant to try and tackle this problem.

Anyone ever had a similar issue or able to point me in the right direction? It will be much appreciated!
