Default 2004 Accord difficulty starting

My O4 Accord EX 4 cylinder has started behaving oddly. Your turn the key to start and it turns over and the turnover slows down and it does not start. Occasionally it just clicks and nothing happens. Turn the key again and it may happen again or not. Turn it a third time and it turns over normally and starts. The battery is brand new and tests fine. It is as if it does no recognize the chip in the key or something.

are you using master key or valet key? If master key, does it have built in remote?

Have you checked your vehicle's battery? Sounds like your battery is getting weak.

Ah, I don't know how I skipped over that.

Okay, let me update my information since you have a new battery installed. Have you checked or replaced the starter? A very common failure on the 2003 4 cylinder and newer Honda vehicles is the starter that's buried under the intake. I think the shorter life span of these starters is largely due to them being exposed to more heat, but that's just my opinion. The most common complaint we get is "I have a new battery but my car still spins over slower than normal". I use a DSO (digital storage oscilloscope) to check the current draw the starter pulls from the battery. The clicking you sometimes hear when it doesn't start is probably the starter contacts clicking, meaning you have power to the starter but no resulting action.

^^^^^ like he said! seeing alot more starter's acting up in the accords lately, u can remove the intake or just remove it from under the vechicle it's a little tight reaching up under the intake but it can be done

We had the very same problem and found out that there was a crack in the manifold which was causing the EGR valve to give problems also. Thanks to my local dealership and Honda.ie they worked it out. This year seems to have this as a common problem and Honda extended the warranty on the Manifold to 7 Years. Check it out and hope this helps
