2004 Accord 2.4 EX 4 door Won't Start
Help me keep my sanity.
2004 Accord 2.4 EX 4 door with 231k miles.
This problem started about a mile from the house with a clunck sound and a check engine light. The car made it home. But would rarely start again when tested.
Battery was replaced 2 months ago.
Starter was replaced 1 month ago.
What it's doing:
Turn key to position 1, everything functions normally.
Turn key to position 2, everything normal on the dash and the fuel pump is activated for a few seconds.
Turn key to position 3, car turns over. It will occasionally run for 2 seconds and the shut off. This happens maybe 1/10 tries but seems to be getting lesser.
Return to position 2 after not starting...buzzing from the relay bank located at the driver's left kick panel ( it sounds like 2 different relays, one of which sounds normal). Faint buzzing coming from the ignition switch area ( the metal cube between the key cylinder and switch). Occasionally, a buzzing coming from a transmission solenoid location below the airbox.
What I've tested:
The battery is charged and tested. I charge it every night due to the repeated starting. 12.56v
I pulled the 50A starter and 15A FI ECU fuses and inspected and tested for continuity. They are good.
I replaced the started switch.
I purchased one brown, blue, and black relay and swapped out every relay in the driver's kick panel area. No change.
Voltage to those relays are 12+V except the starter relay..10.8V.
The immobilizer light on the dash is behaving properly.
This car has the original alternator.
This car also has an aftermarket remote start system.
I would love some ideas.
