2003 Accord P2646(4)?
Hello. I have a 2003 honda accord with about 128k miles on it. About a week ago, as I was driving, my engine started to stutter a bit. It jolted about 4 or 5 times and immediately my engine light went on. It happened again about a minute later. After that, I drove with it a bit and it hadn't acted up or anything, but the light was still on. I got a code pulled from pep boys reading I believe P2646, or P26464. Can't find anything on the p26464 so assume it's p2646. It was something like rocker arm actuator. Said it might have something to do with the oil pressure, they checked it, it was fine. Since then, the light has gone off for about 2 days, then repeated the same thing but did it for a while when i was driving. It went off again, no problems, then i drove over a bump into someones driveway, and the light went back on and has been on since. I think what i need is to replace the VTEC control solenoid but i want to be sure that is the part i need before i buy it. Any help?

When was the last time the oil filter was changed?
Where did "they" check the oil pressure? Did they hook up a guage after the sending unit and read the pressure while the vehicle was running?
I've seen this code, turned out to be a clogged oil filter, that's it.

I had an oil change last november and they changed the filter as well. They only checked my oil level on the dipstick while the car was off. After that they said it probably wasn't an oil problem. The car has had some RPM problems previous to the oil change, which involved an engine light that i never got diagnosed. The problem was a rough idle from 2000 to 2500 rpm after the engine had been running a bit. the problem went away after the car wouldn't start anymore so i jumped it.

If they just pulled the dipstick, they did NOT check oil pressure. Most of these rocker arm actuator codes, it says right in the book, to check oil pressure FIRST.
How many MILES since that filter was changed????

If I had to guess I'd say the oil changes were every 5-10k miles over the period of the car, the oil screen on the vtec spool valve is clogged up with debris...
What I would do is buy a new vtec spool valve complete, pull the oil one off, while it's off have someone start the engine while you hold a small bucket catch the oil coming out of that area.. Run the car for no more than 5-8 seconds, install the new vtec spool valve, change oil and enjoy your car.

It's been maybe 2 or 3k miles since. What would the reason be for then engine light going on and off. For example, it was on for about a day and a half just two days ago. I started driving and 2 minutes into the drive the light went off by it's self and has stayed off since. Drove a decent amount too.

I also have a 2003 accord, and was getting the same code I believe from Advance.
I went to the Honda dealership (as advance didn't have access to the part) and replaced the Selonoid valve thingy on the back of the engine. Car ran good for 2 days. On the third day, the check engine light came back on again, and wouldn't accelerate past 2700 RPM again, and would just 'stutter'. I just cleaned the other screen that I seen on the other video from other posts.
Just did a test drive, and started out okay, but after the engine got warmed up enough (about 5 to 6 miles), again, won't rev past the 2,700 or so, will 'stutter'.
The car is due for an oil change. I also did add some oil to the car after it first happened, as it appeared to be a towards the lower side. Could it be that the valve's were the problem, and the oil I added was just a little too much? Really don't want to take it to the dealership, if I can avoid it at all, but need to have the acceleration in the car for highway driving ... it's a jungle out there!!!!
Thanks!!!

Re: 2003 Accord P2646(4)?
I wanted to follow up with this post, so I can do a new one for a different issue ....
I ended up changing the oil & filter, and the code dis-appeared, and still hasn't returned. Best to do like the video showed, and discussed, clean both screens, and change oil & filter.
This happened to me, after the car sat at the body shop for 3 months waiting to get things settled from an accident. But now, on to the next problem ....

Hi eyez, I drive a 2005 Accord and im having the same issue with the 2646 code. My car was parked for at least a month waiting for repairs as well after an accident (someone rear ended my wife). We have changed the selenoid both high and low pressure switches, oil change and nothing seems to work. Did you get your issue solved? Please let me know, I have to drive to work half hour on the highway and its a pain in the *$% . Thank you.

Navajo,
Yes, my issue finally got resolved/fixed. I changed the one selenoid thing on the back of the engine, cleaned the screen on the front of the engine (Found you tube video for it), changed the oil & filter (I think the oil was a little over filled).
The other thing that I found giving me issues, was that one of my wires was loose / partly disconnected on the injectors I believe. It was under the cover in front of the plugs. I also changed the plugs (thinking that was the problem). Luckily I found the wire that wasn't plugged in all the way on the injector before I spent the money to change all of the things that go over the plugs (drawing a blank on all the technical terms as I don't do this all the time).
Hope this helps & Good luck!!!
