Default 08 accord EX-L a/c self-diagnostic

Looking for the steps to run a self-diagnostic for the hvac on a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L 4 cyl automatic. It has a dual-zone a/c heater. I've searched all over google and many different Honda forums without any luck. I even downloaded a 08-10 accord service manual, but the steps did not work. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

Thanks for the assistance. The link above was the same directions from the SM 08-10 accord that I downloaded. The button layout is different on mine and I don't have a **** to switch the fan to off. Below a pic of the button layout. Help is much appreciated.

Press and hold OFF, then within 10 seconds press and release the REAR window defrost/defog button 5 times(while still holding down OFF)

(make sure the key is in the run position, but the engine is off)

Thanks a lot! It ran the diagnostic for less than a minute. Didn't show any blinking lights on those buttons when it finished. I'm assuming that is where I will see the DTC codes?

If there is a problem it will display 88 and AUTO or 88 and AC ON, then codes.

The codes will be a letter (A through P) followed by either AUTO or AC ON,depending on the code.

For instance A -AUTO is a different code than A- AC ON, either one can be displayed.

DCFIVER, you have been a great help. Thank you!! I ran the diagnostic again and didn't see any of the above display. It's the A/C that's giving me the problem, not blowing cold air. Everything else seems to be working fine. I'll probably wait until the spring to get it checked out further, getting cooler here in KY. Thanks again for your help.

What does this self diagnostic really do? If there is no "problem" with the HVAC, is it a good idea to run it? To ask it another way, how do we know if our AC can benefit from this?

Checks for electrical issues with-in the climate control module or items under its control. Will not tell you if the compressor is bad or pretty much anything else AC related under the hood.

Honestly Ive never used the DIY function before,my scan tool can access the climate control module and pull any codes....

how do you do it on an 05 accord ex that has regular a/c controls, a fan control **** on the left, temp on right, in the middle, lower, buttons to select air flow (vent, floor, etc). also max a/c is on the very left of those lower switches for airflow, next to the vent option. how is the self-diagnostic done on this type of controls?

Thanks for these instructions for running the self-diagnostic. I've been able to run this in the past with the holding off then pressing rear defrost five times method, but recently I went to try this and my display will flash *as if it is going to run the diagnostic* but then...nothing.

So what happens when the self-diagnostic looks like it gets initiated but then nothing happens? Is this an electrical issue now?
