'05 Accord, need iPhone input, trying to make use of prior owners Siriux XM install..
I just bought a 2005 accord to replace my 2004 accord... stepping up in the world I would like to play music from my iPhone through to the stock head unit. I stream music from digitally imported and it's pretty much the only thing i listen to, so I just need a 1/8" male audio jack.
Well, The 2005 has the CD changer with XM button/integration, but the previous owner installed some sort of aftermarket sirius/xm unit in the dash storage area. (works but i don't subscribe)
Picture:
I thought I could just unhook it and plug the xm units input cable into the phone. I found a mini (even smaller than 1/8" jack) going into it, and figured that went back to the head unit, but I bought an adapter to make it 1/8" and I had no luck.
So to make a long story short, or rather.. a long question.. what's the cheapest way to get my phone to play though the factory stereo? Can I benefit from this XM installation or do I need to start from scratch?

Ok so I guess no ideas, so then let me ask.. what's typically the most cost effective way to get an aux jack into one of these oem head units? I'm going to be driving 1200 miles this Thanksgiving and I'd like to have something other than my 1990's dance cd's

Everything I've read shows me that an adapter is needed and you can't just plug in a 3.5mm cable. I ordered a dirt cheap adapter off eBay for $25 that claims to do the trick that the $100 ones do.. I figured it was worth a try..

I bought this on eBay for $24 http://www.ebay.com/itm/221523509644?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It works, so I see no need to buy those $60-$100 adapters. I did have to unplug the XM plug, but I don't subscribe so it doesn't bother me.

Over this weekend, I installed a bluetooth adapter instead of getting another aux adapter. I paid $90 for the bt adapter with a mike.

Hey just a heads up, I bought a 21 dollar adapter on ebay and it died on me after about 3 months. Maybe I just had a defective unit but who knows.
