04 accord v6 coupe auto tranny acting up! HELP!!!
hey guys 2 days ago while i was driving, the car would not shift smoothly, it will feel as if i am in neutral and rev really high and the car will not move. if i drive slow i guess it will stay in 2-3rd gear but other than that it will not shift. if it does shift, it slips and doesnt go into gear unless i take my foot off the gas. i did a drain and refill for tranny last summer and my car is only at 158k

those trans have issues. take it to the dealer and see what they can do. Many times they will fix it no cost. other times they will pay for parts you pick up the labor

Bad news is, trans is probably shot. Check the fluid, make sure it isn't low. There's a possibility it's just the torque converter but until the trans has fresh fluid and is pressure tested at a shop, you won't know. There's a lot of things that can cause a trans to not shift right, but if the fluid is burnt, the trans is done. 160k is a pretty go for a trans FYI, especially on a performance vehicle.
Good news is trans on the V6 accords are pretty cheap because of the high failure rate; 5th gen go for around 1300, 6th gen for around 1500-1600 and 7th gen around 2200-2400. You can either take it to a shop and pay them to change it out (reccomend you get new axles, rotors and pads while you're at it, any good shop won't make you pay for putting in new parts when they have to pull the old ones anyway). Had this happen on a beemer you can double that price.
You can also DIY and make an investment in tools and kit if you've an garage and do some basic engine work; timing belt and water pump, accessories, change the head gaskets, etc. Make sure to get an OEM remanned. Changing an engine/trans on an accord isn't as hard as you think. There's a lot to disassemble; the factory service manuals (FSM, v6 suppliment, electrical troubleshooting and body manual), they tell you what to do and how to do it.
Quoted for the good portion of the post... the rest of his post was inappropriate.

If you were as adamant about removing completely useless and disparaging posts from people who know nothing about cars or how to do honest business you'd end up with no forum. This place is pretty dead as-is, and checking around there isn't a whole lot of good info anyway.
Just ban me and get it over with you goddamn *****. I'm not going to change the way I am because some 19 year old nerd-virgin can't figure it out.

thanks for info guys..i took it to a shop the guy test drove, the car started slipping and hi-revving once again and he quoted 2-4gs to rebuild...im from vancouver bc and 300 is a really cheap price for tranny.. i've looked on ebay and cheapest is 1,200gs thats a manual. if anyone could guide me to a cheap place i'd be so thankful since i do not have much money and i live in a area pretty far from the city so my main transportation is by car which is now parked =[ thanks!
