'04 accord v6 auto coupe needs new tranny and new rear main seal...

Well, when we bought our '04 Accord Coupe V6 auto brand new in '04, we figured that the era of faulty honda automatics were over, but clearly it isn't.

This thing only has 56k miles (91k km), and requires a new auto tranny. It also needs a new rear main seal!!!

Honda says because it is outside of the warranty period by 6 months (but not by mileage), they cannot help us. My father bought a brand new '02 odyssey which also needed a new auto tranny, that was replaced within the warranty period. He also bought a brand new '09 Acura MDX, which will probably need a new tranny eventually.

That said, we are done with Hondas (as long as they are autos). I also owned a '97 Civic hatch and still own an '00 Accord sedan, but both were 5MT's with high mileage, and basically no issue.

My question is, are the newer hondas known to have rear main seal issues and tranny issues, particularly 03+ accord V6 autos?

yes. 03'-04' V6 especially but all V6 autos are sensitive. I wouldn't buy an auto honda either.

My 03 V6 auto tranny is doing fine, at 77k miles. I do change the fluid often.

If you are done with hondas OP... what does it matter and why are you here?

this thread offers no redeeming qualities...
