Default 04 Accord Sedan leak!

OK my mom had a 98 accord and when it would rain, but not all the time, the back seat floor on the passanger side would be soaked. But only every once in a while. So now she has an 04... and for the first time since she's had it which has been about a year, the SAME exact thing happend! I never was able to figure it out on the 98 and I'm assuming I wont be able to figure it out on the 04 either.

Anyone have any experience?

First thing to do is check the rubber seals around the door to make sure they are not damaged. Next thing is to sit in the back seat and with the windows up have someone
spray around the rear window with a hose. Have them go all around the gaps in the door. While they do that you should feel and look for leaks. The other gins is that if it has only happened once, could it be that your mom forgot to close the window all the way?

90% of all H20 leaks that I have repaired are winshield install related. The floorpan in the 04 Accord has a slight downward tilt towards the rear. A very small leak from the front can run down the channels in the floor pan and soak the rear carpet without necesarrily soaking the front carpet. Like said leaks are never one time things. Check it out to see if it actually is a leak.

the windshiled is a replacement one, and this one has a crack it it so maybe it's time to just buck up and get a new one installed. But I sprayed the hose on it full force and got nothing... I sprayed everything, doors, windows, trunk, sunroof, ran water in the sunroof channels, absolutely nothing. It's pretty annoying.

THe crack in the windshield is porbably inconsequentail to the leak. Unless that crack ran out to the passenger side, I wouldn't worry about it. THis is the approach. Get the floor dry. Take and vacuum the water out. Let it air out untill completely dry. Be creative here. Get a hose and let it rest on the right side of the roof molding pointing forward. I tape the hose to the roof with masking tape. then turn the water on and walk away for at least 30 minutes. Check car for water. Then turn the hose around pointing toward the rear this time. Same thing. iF Still nothing then I lay the hose from driver to passenger side so that my water just flows over the rain channel and covers the rear door. wait then check. I keep this method up until I find the water leak. Water leaks take a very planned methodical approach to diagnosis combined with patience. Once you find the genral area the water enters then here comes the hose again. Place in the confirmed area and find the source by removing small trim items like the kick panel and A pillar trim, door sill garnishes. Again, 90% of the H20 leaks that I have repaired on Hondas(minus early Del Sols) have been from the windshield area. I don't say this to limit your scope, but rather for the likely to less likely approach. I am interested. I like water leaks.

Here's a tip to try to detect the water leak.

Helpful, but very few times have I found where this is necessary. I use baby powder instead of foot spray. There is a lot of good service news info.
