03 Accord Coupe Won't Shift Out of Park?
 

Hey guys,

New here to this forum. I'm seeking some opinions on a problem with my car today. I have 2.4/4cyl automatic 03 accord coupe that won't shift out of park... It starts just fine though but when I press the gear stick and try to shift it into drive, it won't budge. I've recently replaced the battery this past month and the starter about a week ago. Is my transmission going out?

there should be instructions in the owners manual too, but try to release the shift lock by inserting the ignition key into the slot by the shifter. (parking brake on, engine off of course) if this works, then with the key/ignition in the ON position and the engine off, push the brake pedal. you should be able to hear the shift lock solenoid disengage under the center console. if you don't hear that check for blown fuses or obvious brake pedal switch abnormalities.

there's a transission recall on some models...outer race on secondary shaft bearing can break causing problems with park
