03 accord 2.4 major oil consumption
My accord has been burning oil for years but now it's burning almost 1qt / 150 miles. Started burning at approx 100k, now has 180k. Still runs great but there's a lot of carbon buildup in the tailpipe, plugs are clean and PVC tests ok with no visible oil in the hose to the intake. I've tried soaking the cylinder heads (thru the spark plug holes) with various solvents and it seemed to help but only for a week. Also, switched to 5-30 without change.
Any suggestions short of a rebuild appreciated.
Can I safely go to a thicker oil with the vtec system? additives?

Yeah, could be worn rings or valves if you haven't changed your oil at 'normal' intervals or if you started using synthetic oil but I doubt it... try this first, replace PCV valve (it's kind of a wear item; spring inside gets weak=oil loss).
Noticeable difference on my '05 (~250k, RIP!) and plan on replacing the breather tube for a few more bucks (Honda part).
