Tire upsize recomendation?

I have a gen9 coupe with 215/55/17 tires and am considering upsizing tires to 225/50/17 or 235/50/17 on the 7.5" OEM rims. I'd like to know if there are any clearance or performance issues? I'd also like to know if I should have any concerns on going down one level on speed rating, from V to H (with same 94 or higher load rating)? Steering is very responsive on the Coupe and by going down to an H (I've read) may soften the ride and/or slightly reduce steering input response and that would be okay with me. We're powering with an i4 CVT so we aren't talking any hi perf application, just our sporty lookin' EX-L Coupe.

Appreciate any thoughts or advice.

https://tiresize.com/calculator/

Use that to compare sizes. You're going to throw off the speedometer slightly with those changes.

You gain 0.4" in width and you'd lose 19mph (149 down to 130) but I'd imagine your car is limited to ~115-120mph

For the DWS06 you can see the recommended width is 6-7.5" so you're already on the high end. The 225/50 variant is anywhere from 6-8" so you'd be fine to put those on. I'd be really surprised if there were any rubbing issues with that small of an increase.

If you go with 235 section width tires you'd be best going with 235/45 R17, a very common tires size on other Honda and Acura cars.

Re: Tire upsize recomendation?

Just yesterday I replaced my OEM Michelin 215/55 R17 after 56K with Michelin Premier AS 235/50 R17. According to Michelins web page the 235 has the same diameter and tire rotation per mile as the 215 so no speedo error. It is slightly wider and looks much better as the 215 made the OEM wheel look like a hub cap. There is no clearance problems either. Each tire is .64lbs heaver, maybe slight fuel mileage difference and .75 inches wider.
I have a 2014 EX-L V6 Accord and the gas mileage is great for a V6 so I don't think the slight weight and width is going to make much of a difference. Time will tell.....I'm very happy so far.
Hope this may help you.
