Question about stripping threads with an oil filter

Well I'm pretty surprised but I do think I stripped the threads out with my oil filter.

I hand tightened then went another 1/8th of a turn with the wrench. I guess it's possible someone before me did it but I doubt it because it felt fine on my first oil change.

forgive my ignorance here but I'm looking into having a mechanic friend of mine do the work for me to save money. So my somewhat ignorant question is, how big of a job is this?

really? I thought it was a separate piece? Is that not the case, does it go to the block?

What engine are you asking about?

2015 accord.

looks like the filter gave before the housing, thank God.

I'm really surprised, I barely turned it. Plus I didn't do it any differently than I have been for years. The only difference was that I used a mobile oil filter.

thanks for responses.

I would never use a filter wrench to tighten the filter on, only to aid in removal. Tighten only by hand and call it good

You still haven't answered the question about which engine.
