2015 Honda Accord Sport - oil

Re: 2015 Honda Accord Sport - oil
Any 0W-20 Synthetic oil will be fine. I like Pennzoil, Mobil and Castrol. I run it for at least 10k miles. You don't have to follow the maintenance minder. It's pretty generic. It doesn't test your engine oil and give you a percentage based on that lol.
Changing full synthetic oil in a street car every 3k miles is a major overkill. Even 5k is too soon. Stick to 8-10k miles. Make sure to check your oil and levels every 1k-2k miles.

Good info, jesser916. You raised a point about not necessarily following the Maintenance Minder. This is all new to me as a new Honda owner. If I deviate from the Maintenance Minder regarding oil changes, should I reset the minder at that point? Will it affect anything else that it is keeping track of or is the minder just for oil?

To be clear, I run full synthetic engine oil and that's why I change it every 8-10k miles. If you're running a synthetic blend you can follow the maintenance minder in my opinion. I'm pretty sure Honda uses a synthetic blend from the factory.

Good to know about the Maintenance Minder! Didn't realize it tracks so many different things. Will follow your suggestion about re-setting it at 15%.
Question: do you re-set it at 15% for each individual category that you mentioned, or is it a "across the board 15% re-set". Seems like each category should have its own " % count-down" though and should be treated on individual basis's. Each category has its own/different life-span. New to this "tech" stuff; have always kept a hand-written maintenance log for all my cars-LOL Still going to with this Honda as well, but want to make sure I understand how to manage the Maintenance Minder correctly. Don't mean to change the subject too far from oil...

To Thomas Ander on gasoline recommendations;
Just caught up with this thread - replying to you question on gasoline. Its widely thought that Top Tier gas is superior. Not an octane thing - that is all the same i.e, 87 Octane at one pump is same 87 Octane at any pump. Top Tier have optimal detergent additives. Here's an article for further reading. Most brand names, and quite a few others, sell Top Tier gas.
