2013 Accord Starter Issue

I was wondering if anyone with the intermittent starting problem finally found out what the problem was? Everyone seems to be needing a new starter.

Has anyone tried an aftermarket starter like NAPA brand?

Anyone have any luck with reimbursement from Honda?

I only have 36000 miles on the car and this is too early for a starter replacement

these are known problems with the '13-'17 Accord 4 cylinders. I've replaced ALOT of them for this issue. If I were you, I would go to your local Honda dealer and see if they will goodwill it since you seem to be outside of your factory warranty period. We have goodwilled quite a few of them. but a lot of the times, HondaCare will take care of it for you.
Of course, if you are one of the many people that never takes it to the dealer, and believe me, there are a lot of them, then don't expect the dealer to be very helpful in that aspect. they may do a split with you, where you pay for the part and they pay the labor

Thanks for the reply. I went to the dealer today and they want $130.00 dollar diagnostic charge plus $671.00 plus tax for a rebuilt Honda starter. They didn't give me a good feeling that Honda would pick up any of the bill.

I can get the NAPA starter installed for $420.00 plus tax with a two year labor warranty and a limited lifetime on the starter.

I’m having the same issue here. 2014 Sport intermittent starting issues. Contacted Honda they don’t seem to care. Very disappointed in the car and service I received at Big Star Honda Houston, Texas. Brought as a certified used car. Never again.
