Water Leaking on Driver's Side Floor

I have a 2001 Accord with a sunroof that started leaking water on the driver's side floor. I ran some string trimmer line down the sunroof drain on the driver's side thinking it may be clogged. The string came out of a clear plastic tube and onto the floorboard beneath the brake pedal. The clear tube is cut at an angle. There is a black rubber boot near where the plastic tube ends. I'm thinking that the plastic tube should fit into the rubber boot but it will not reach it. Should the plastic tube fit in the rubber boot and if so why will it not reach it?

Can you get any pic's - I know there isn't much room down there.

Did you try a pair of needle nose pliers.

Edit: I know this post is for the pass side but might help: https://honda-tech.com/honda-accord-...nroof-3135265/

3 Attachment(s)
The first image (31) shows the clear plastic drain tube and the black rubber boot as I found them. The second image (33) shows the closest distance the tube and the boot will reach each other. The third image (39) shows the tube and the boot with my hand for scale. The I.D. of the rubber boot is about 3/8". No one has worked on this area of the car so I don't know why the tube would have become disconnected and why it will not reach the boot now. I looked around the floorboard for a connecting tube that may have connected the two but found none. I plan on buying a plastic tube of the same diameter and splicing it so that it will be able to be inserted into the boot.

I'm glad this didn't happen on the passenger side. That looks like a bear to get to.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thanks.

To me that looks like the factory set up....meaning no one "cut" it out of there.

Have you tried a pair of pliers to pull more on the tubing....yes you don't want to pull too hard and slip it off the moonroof end - there is a clamp there but still.

I've had the same issue on the drivers side drain on a 3rd (88) and 5th (95) gen Accord. On both I was able to pull enough on the tube to get it back in.

Just my theory....before you try to get the tube back in....use the "string" into the black valve to clear the little "flap" valve that is on the other end of it. My stupid theory is that flap valve gets clogged and the water backs up to the point that the connection of the tube and valve come apart.....again just me.

Same thing happening in my Honda 2002 Accord with moonroof. Water on driver's side floor in front and back (less severe) only when in driving rain for period of time. Dealer service tech on phone said might be from mooroof drain clogs and bring it in. Will cost ~$500 to find and fix. Yikes. Any suggestions?

Threaded the driver side moonroof drain with weed line.....and wala....found the hose and the boot. It didn't want to stay put so it was a plumbers tape fix. THANKS A BUNCH!!
