VSS is it bad again?
VSS= I bought this car about 2 weeks ago "AS IS" i payed $100. for the car knowing that it has it's problems. I have Searched on the form as any new person should do, learning alot on how to fix most of my problems, One of the problems being the VSS, I replaced it and (speedometer odmeter, and cruise )It worked fine for 2 days, 3rd day it decided to not work on till the vehile hit operating temp. and work find the rest of the day ,4th day same thing, until my hubby went to return movies, worked there but not on the way back, (late at night) . Today it came on for less than 2 sec, and did not work any more the rest of the day. The "S" light is flashing again with the check engine light, when pulling the codes they both indecate that VSS, So my guess is that the VSS has quit working again or i have a short some where. When i decide to replace it i got the new one from the junk yard, for $5, I pulled it my self, because they did not know the loction.
I have checked the voltage from the VSS plug there is plenty of voltage, i don't know what else to do.
Does the VSS work on a magnetic pulse, I just was wondering if the magnetic coil ( if contained in the vss) was brittle form the time it stayed in the junk yard.
