Vibration/Shake after 60mph.
Okay guys.
My Accord starts shaking when the speed climbs over 60. To try to explain I'm going to compare it to driving on a tire that's low on air, you can feel the car shaking/moving as you drive straight. The car has been in two accidents in the past, both front impacts. First accident the airbags went off, the front bumper/hood/headlights were replaced. The second the front bumper just ripped off when a car hit it. Now my question is what could be causing the vibrations. It's really uncomfortable as the steering wheel is shaking every time it happens. Could it be that some part of the suspension got bent during one of the accident? I looked under the car and the control arms and everything else looks fine on both sides. |

Get your wheels balanced.

We have and aligned as well. I forgot to mention that!

- tire pressures
- wheels balanced - alignment |
Re: (TheMuffinMan)
How old is the car? Could also be bad bushing, tie rod and/or wheel bearing.

Don't overlook warped brake rotors. Does the vibration change when you tap the brakes?

I just went through this with my 92' Accord. This is what i did to fix the problem. I replaced both stabalizer links (cheap $5 a piece with all the new bushings), front left and right wheel barrings and Hubs (a bit more expensive about $200 all together), the front right side needed a new control arm assembly, check for a SOlid arm going from the frame of your car connecting to the bottom ball joint. None the less you might just need to replace your ball joints, when they start to go bad you get a bad vibration as well. Hope i could help you out a little.
P.S. Do not drive over 60 if you dont have 2... you will wear out the inside of your tires and within a short amount of time they will blow out on the inside wall. check for wires ocassionally. |

Thanks everyone, I occasionally drive on the highway, and that's what bothers me the most, I don't speed so I'm always driving under 50 around town.
I appreciate everyone's help! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif The car is a 1997. The brakes aren't so old, but it still vibrates until it lowers down from that speed. Braking or just letting go of the gas. |
