Need Help: My car is running too hot
Just recently my 93 accord has been acting up. My temperature gauges goes up to the 3/4 mark whenever I'm at a stop. I know it has to do something w/ my fans because on the highway it stays in the middle. I realized that my fans come on only after I turn off the car but doesn't come on when the engine is running hot at an idle. Can it be the cooling fan relay (fan still work though) or the fan switch sensor, or something else. Any help appreciated.

Is the thermostat opening? If not you may have a bad fan switch (on the thermostat housing. Will the fans come on with the a/c?

Re: Need Help: My car is running too hot
Thanks for the reply. The thermostat should be open if the car is running hot at different temps right. On the weekend I could try to take out the thermostat and tie some string to it and submerge it in hot water to see if it opens.
I haven't tried turning on the A/C to check out the fans. I'll try tomorrow though. BTW, I see no signs of coolant leak cause my coolant is full all the time.
So what could be the main cause:
-Fan switch sensor
- thermostat
- radiator cap

sounds exactly like what happened to me, it was my thermostat being stuck, couldnt remember if it was stuck open or close, but non the less, stuck.

Yeah, I had a feeling it was either the thermostat or the fan switch sensor. Im going to try changing the thermostat first since it's less expensive than the fan switch. Thanks for all the replys.
