Trouble on cold start (99 Accord)
I've been having a problem starting my accord after leaving it more then one day sitting and it's only for that first start. My car will sit and crank and crank but nothing happens then I will leave it for like 10 -15 mins and then try again and it will start.
This is what I have tried.
Replaced battery
Replaced coil (shop did this saying that I had a dead spot?????)
Cleaned distribuator cap
Anyone know if I should have replace something else in my starter. To me it seems like a starter problem I just want to make sure before I go out and completely replace the starter. Also when I turn the key I will wait a few seconds and all the interior lights display fine so I'm sure it's not a battery issue.
Thanks in advance
Abel

It sounds like your starter if you have already replaced your battery......I would also get your alternator checked but that wouldn't really have anything to do with a cold start up that is mainly your battery and starter.

a dead spot on the coil?? that's a new one on me!
sounds almost like your main relay could be bad, but usually those act up in warm weather, not cold.
do you hear the fuel pump turn on briefly when you turn the key to the ON position?

Re: Trouble on cold start (notoriousB)
Just checked I'm pretty sure the sound I hear is the pump but then again I have yet to listen to it when it's not starting. I just don't get why it will pump fine in my normal day to day driving just whenever I get back from a business trip the last 3 times (more then 3 day stretch) it seems to not want to start till about 15 mins later. It really only happens that rare it's like if it sits for more then two days or something I can just count on trouble starting up.

Next time it sits for a couple days, pay attention to hearing the pump. If it doesn't start, then don't wait 15 minutes but check for spark & fuel. After cranking for 20 seconds see if you smell fuel at the tailpipe.
