Default Transmission Problems. Hard down shifts 96 lx Auto

My 96 Accord Lx Auto 240k is having problems down shifting. It shifts up fine most of the time, sometimes a rough one. The fluid is clean, doesn't smell burnt, and is a nice red color. In the last couple of days I noticed a really rough down shift when slowing down from speed with a slight clunk.

Is the transmission done? Or can I trouble shoot to figure out if its the shifter solenoid?

Any insight on problem solving would greatly be appreciated.

I'll check that out, but I doubt it since the the motor doesn't have that much play.

I recheck the front motor mount and it looked torn. Had a buddy come over and run it through the gears and the motor jumped a ton.

I replaced the front mount. The engine feels so much better and the idle is silky smooth. The shifts are 90% smooth with the occasional hard shift/down shift.

Next I am going to flush the trans again plus add some Lucas additive and check the rear motor mount.

Thanks for you're help

Do not use any 'additives'.

Over the miles the NM/NC sensors can become fouled with ferrous material, simply remove the two sensors wipe off the shavings and reinstall.

Go to the H4A link in my sig, scroll down to the "NC/NM speed sensor, code 9/15" portion and read up.

You will need two 91309-PX4-003 "O-RING (16X2.1) (NOK)" $1.88. From the Honda dealer. Do not try to reuse the O-rings after you pull out the sensor, they will leak.

I have flushed the trannys with BG and never onced had a problem in 100+k miles.. If Bg products cause your tranny to fail they will pay to replace it. I do say just Honda ATF. but there cleaning stuff is pretty good.. I am talking about a power flush here.

Ugh yeah, you never do a 'power flush' on a Honda AT. They are not like typical planetary gearset ATs. More related to a manual transmission.
