I just replaced the belts on a 93 2.2 accord. It had a oil leak before so i replaced the rear balance o ring type seal front balance seal camshaft seal and crankshaft seal. It still has a leak under the timing cover. I did not get the front balance shaft seal to go all the way up flush it liked about 1/16" or less and i looked at the old seal and it seemed looked like it did not go all the way in either. Should this seal go in futher? I also did not think the idler spring would adjust tight enough on the balance belts.........i pushed the belt up and tightened it. I plan on taking the cover off and finding the oil leak this week how tight should the balance belt be and if i order a nedw one how do i make sure i get the correct one for this car? Why would the spring not tighten the belt? I replaced the idlers and both belts and water pump also. Explain pleae about adjusting the belts. I installed the timing belt turned engine counterclock wise about five times then stoped on tdc and turned countercolck wise three theeth and locked the belt down i then installed the bvalance belt and the spring did not pull the belt tight at all and that is the reason for pushing the balance belt tight by hand. If you can waith until you get the var back toghther before adjusting the bellts why does the manual say to lock the timing belt down then install the balance belt? If you loosen the adjusting nut after inststalling eveything i would see no point in locking the timing idcler down. Excuse all the questions but this is my first accord belt change. One more thing i did not use any glue on seals and the front balance seal did slide in pretty easy...should this seal be glued because of the problems of comming out..it does have a seal holder installed made out of thin metal is the thin metal strong enough for this ..looks like alum or sheet metal.

That sheet metal was a TSB and it should keep the seal from popping out, big problem prior the the TSB. You can glue the oil seals in it you want but not too much, 98% of whatever you use is going to get pushed out anyways, ask the parts store for what type of sealant, its been too many years out of the USA for me. ("elephant snot", yellowish goo, gets hard, squeeze tube) Spring tension is all that is needed, the balence belt will be loose, if you tighten it be hand then the spring might not have any tension on it and the bracket it pulls on will rattle and drive you crazy. Follow the instructions like you almost did.
