Default Sunroof Problem

I've got a 99 Accord sedan that just today developed a problem with the sunroof. The sunroof opens fine. When I push the close button, the sunroof slides closed, and then continues past to the tilt position. The tilt position button does not respond at all. I've got the factory maintenance manuals for this car -- any suggestions on what I should try replacing first? I'm a do it yourself kind of guy and not afraid to tinker, especially on this older car. Thank you for any tips you can provide!

A Honda mechanic has suggested that I try swapping the switch on the console used to open/close/tilt the sunroof. I've got one on order and will find out tomorrow if this is the fix when the part arrives.

The console switch did nothing to help. I've got to figure out what to try next. Any suggestions?

can you hear the motor when you push the switch? If you can then it means most likely that the track is somehow jammed. If you can not then it could be a issue with the wireing.

You can remove the glass without dropping the headliner. you just have to pull down the plastic on the sides of the glass that cover the 4 screws that hold it in place. You might consider doing that and checking the track to make sure it's not jammed anywhere

I don't think it's the tracks because it opens all the way, and closes fully. However, instead of stopping at the closed position when I'm pushing the close button, it continues on past to the tilt position.

I've been looking at the factory service manual and I'm wondering if it could possibly be something with the position switch? It looks like I'd have to remove the headliner to get to it. Maybe I'll pull the headliner out this weekend so I can see what I can see.

Without seeing the wiring diagram for this sunroof my best guess would be that there is a homing switch located near the front of the opening that tells the motor when to stop closing the panel. this switch is probably bad.
