I'm planning to purchase a 2000 Accord EX V6 with 100k miles which looks in excellent condition and drives great.

However, I've read about transmission problems/recalls for this year so I'm considering taking out an extended warranty just to be safe.

Autoservicewarranty.com have quoted me £799 for 3 years or 50k miles (including roadside assistance) and told me if the transmission failed they would pay up to $2,500 for a rebuilt one.

Would that cover all potential problems with the transmission?

They also offer a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and if it all checks out the policy starts immediately.

2000 and 2001 accords had the extended trans warranty. however it has pretty much come to an end due to time...theres a specific year and mileage coverage, cant remeber what it is off my head...
i think if you can buy the extended warranty for a great price, then go for it and do so. just be sure you go over the full list of what that extended warrany covers... im sure it doesnt cover bumper to bumper...and also keep in might that transmission repairs/replacements can cost up to 3 grand or even more at dealerships...
