shift-interlock woes

Re: shift-interlock woes
I have the problem with fuse 47 under the hood keep blowing. You guys know there's a recall on the ignition switch. That might fix the problem. Anyway, the fuse just happens to control the brake lights, ABS unit, shift interlock, cruise as well as a few others. I replaced the brake switch and found it was very worn and it fixed the problem ... for about 3 months. Now I have it back. Blowing no. 47 again. I want the dealer to replace the ignition again. I still think it's a poor design and prone to wear and intermittent shorts. Anyone else?

I have a similar problem. Is there any way to temporarily disable the parking interlock? Which sensor do I need to bypass to make it so that I can shift into drive regardless of key position and brake position? Thanks.

I'm really sorry If this has already been answered, I've only read the first 20 or so msgs. I've got a 1992 Honda accord and haven't had it for too long. Not all the time, but a good bit of the time, it seems to have trouble deciding what gear it wants to go into. It'll start in a high hear and stay there until I pull over and cut it off or shift from P to D1 once or twice. There is often a rapid clicking sound when I'm at a stop also. If anyone here has experience with this, is it related to this post in any way? I've scheduled an appointment to get it checked out, but wanted to see what I might get here also. Thx!
Wow, forgot to mention that it's an automatic 4-speed.

The TCU on the CBs(90-93) tend to have bad capacitors and resistors.

Re: shift-interlock woes
Thats a shifting problem, not the shift-interlock.

There is a metric **** tonne of tech and info on the Accord FAQ at the top of the forum page. I suggest taking a gander at it, some of the gold nuggets are buried, but most of whatever you need to know about 90-97s can be found in it.

Actually the faq doesnt say a damn thing about this.. doesn't even say where the damn interlock control unit IS. . Which is what I came here for. After reading this entire thread and many others im giving up. Unless some body wants to respond with the location and then tell a damn moderator to put that **** in the faq.
