Reverse problem on 99 Accord Automatic
 

My inlaw's got a 99 accord, auto. Every time you throw it in reverse it goes in and moves about 3 feet a then stops, but if I let off the pedal, put it in park and put it back in reverse it moves again, but only about 1 to 3 feet and stop's as if it were in neutral. What can be the problem? Ive changed the fluid with brand new one's, it's all up to level. What can it be? Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Your tranny is gone bro. Its time to rebuild it, or get a new one. 6th gen. Auto, all came with weak transmissions. You should take it to a shop so that they could take a look at the damage. Or if you can do it yourself than even better. You'll probably save yourself a couple hundred dollars.

the clutches are probably hella worned out and just wont work. idk if you are the original owner of the car, if not than the previous owner did not change the tranny fluid often enough. 6th gen. tranny are quite sensitive to burn tranny fluid, and thats when they start wearing out. I know you mentioned that you flushed it and and that u put new fluid. but its probably way too late. you should look for a more specific answer with photos ON the FAQ'S THREAD. I THINK ITS CALLED INSIDE THE 6TH GEN. TRANSMISSION.

ya man replace the tranny. as long as you have access to good socket wrenches and other tools. the auto tranny really is not too hard to change. go pick up a haynes manual from your local auto store and it will guide you step by step

but if you got the money to spend then save yourself the time and trouble and have a shop rebuild it for you. a main sign that your tranny is gone is when your going in reverse or drive and it goes for a little and then just start to rev with no movement. when my tranny went i could put it in drive and it would sometimes go a little bit but within a minute or two it would just go right back to reving

Let me rephrase my question. I'm wondering what in the tranny causes this problem? All gear's work fine except for the reverse, sometimes it goes in fine and reverses fine, but at times it goe's in and then moves and then stop's. Can it be some sort of solnoid? Cable? If so how can I get to it?

when my tranny went i lost everything but reverse. im sure there is a logical way to explain how to open the tranny up and check the reverse gears, seals, etc.

i actually still have my old busted f22b1 tranny. i think i'll find some decent instructions on how to rebuild it. if i can figure it out ill let you know.

I have a 2000 Accord V6 automatic. I replaced the transmission 2 years ago and am now having the same issues described in this thread. When shifting from park to reverse in the driveway the car will travel several feet and then lock up. It feels as though the brakes are being applied. When given more gas it will fight to go backwards and may inch but with great resistance. It does not feel like a slipping transmission, it does not rev high like a slipping transmission but acts as if you have your foot on the brake while going in reverse. When put in park and then back into reverse it will travel several feet without resistance and then start the same cycle over again. It seems to do this when pulling out of the driveway not when traveling on a straight away, stopping and then going in reverse. I don't know if the turn into or out of the driveway could somehow effect this. Is there any way drive and park could be engaged at the same time?
