Default Replaced Ecu in 2001 honda

I replaced ecu in my 2001 honda accord v6. But my car still won't start!! I replaced main relay, crank sensor shaft, fuel pump and installed a new battery. My mechanic says I have to replace the ignition switch and that may be my problem because my new ecu can't read the key. Is this true? Please give me some in sight on this!! Thanks!!

The replacement ECM/PCM needs to be reprogrammed to recognize the keys due to the Immobilizer system.

So all I have to do is reprogram the ecu and I shouldn't have to change the ignition switch right?

The no start issue you had prior to ECM/PCM replacement may or may not be due to the ECM/PCM. Sounds like parts are being thrown at the problem.

A replacement ECM/PCM has to be reprogrammed to recognize the key's transponder chip ID, regardless due to the Immobilizer. There is no need to replace the ignition switch if there isn't anything wrong with it.

I have a 2001 Honda Accord, took the battery off for 2 hours and put it back and now a small red light is flashing to the left of the steering wheel.
  • The car won't start
  • The battery seem to be fully charged, it won't crank
  • front lights and back light star flashing
It looks like it is an alarm, but I've tried to turn it off with the key locking and un locking, but nothing seems to work...

Please can some one help....

If it's not cranking it's possible the starter disable function of the alarm is malfunctioning. It's more likely this is the case if you have a Viper or DEA brand of alarm.

You need to find out what kind of alarm it is. Get the model number. Look up the service manual. Find where it says to put it into valet mode and you should atleast be able to start it. You may need to have your car towed to a car stereo shop and have them remove the alarm. Sometimes you can just put the ignition on and turn the alarm valet switch to put it into valet mode, sometimes you need to have the driver door opened or some combination.
