I replaced the trunklid on my 98 Accord Coupe brake lights with LED bulbs and now the brake light sensor on the dash won't go off even though the brake lights work. Do I need to replace all of the bulbs with LEDs to work or go back to halogen?

Since the LED brake light bulbs doesn't draw (use) that much current, your dash warning light comes on, as it thinks it detects the regular bulb not working (i.e., using the normal current). Get load resistors, which will draws as much current as what would have been your original regular bulb to simulate the original bulb current draw.

so this is one of those problems that would not be solved by the addition of an electronic flasher module to the system. And on a 98, even if its Honda?

Use LED bulbs that have the built in resistor to mimic the normal load of the conventional bulb. Unless you account for all the lamps, the signal/Hazards may not work properly even with a different flasher module.

I can see that. I rewired my front corners to be turn signals as well with LED bulbs and the flash is phased.

I am currently in the same spot. I put load resistors on both my taillights and then my brake lamp stayed on so I figured it needed a load resistor as well. Being that it's 2 bulbs I used 2 resistors. Now I get my brake lamp light in my dash only if I apply the brake longer than 1-2 seconds. And now when I apply the brake with no keys in the ignition I get the chime that I'm leaving my lights on. Did I mess up? If so can I remove the load resistors and wrap them with electric tape?
