Default Recently purchased 97 accord coupe

when I bought my 97 accord I was given 2 keys and told 1 was for the trunk and the other was for the ignition. Didnt make much sence because my husband has a 92 prelude and the key works for both. anyway they told me not to get the keys confused so for a while I kept the trunk key in the car then my 2 year old was in the car and put the key in the ignition and its stuck. luckly it also works in the ignition. was i given the wrong information or does the 97 accord have seperate keys? also does anyone know how to get the key out?

no, one key should do all the locks and ignition...
probably had trunk lid replaced due to damage in the past...

do as stated above to remove the key.

The reason that the car has two keys is usually because someone tried to steal the car (or posssibly did) and buggered up the ignition causing it to need replacement, thus a different key. You may look into the record of the car or talk to the person that you bought it from and see if that is the case because every Honda that I have ever been in or worked on that hasn't had a new ignition put into it has used the same key for the doors and the ignition. Hope this gives you some good info/insite.

Does the key they told you was for the ignition work in the trunk too? It's possible someone got a Civic key, which is a little bit shorter but looks similar, accidentally made for your car. It happened to me once, the key went in, started fine, but I couldn't get the key out since you have to push the key in to pull it out of the ignition.

if the ignition key doesn't match the key for the trunk/doors, the the ignition or the trunklid or doors are from a different car, indicating that your car was stolen or in an accident at some point
