Default Is this normal Honda transmission behavior?

I have a 98 accord Automatic 4-cyl. with 117k miles. Here's the issue. I have done a drain and fill every 25k miles using ONLY honda fluid. Now, I have noticed over the last 20k miles some strange up-shifting from first to second and from second to first. ALL OTHER GEARS SHIFT SMOOTHLY AND PERFECTLY. The strange shifting is as follows:

1) When moving very slowly forward and foot lightly on the gas petal I can hear and feel a slight CLUNK/Jerk when the transmission is shifting from first to second.

2) If at a standstill with the car and I accelerate quickly NO clunk/jerk is noticed when the transmission shifts from first to second.

3) SOMETIMES i can hear a light click sound when the car is down-shifting from second to first while coming to a stop.

IS THIS NORMAL HONDA TRANSMISSION SHIFTING BEHAVIOR WITH 117k MILES?? All comments is appreciated. Thanks.

honda trannys do tend to shift a bit harder even as they get older, but if it doesnt feel like a hard shift and more like a shift problem or slip i would get it checked out. i think that was a run-on sentence......

It's more like a hard shift. What puzzles me is SOMETIMES it shifts perfectly with no clunk/jerk from first to second. What's going on here? Is this normal with age??

mine shifts hard as well, but without really driving yours--its hard to determine if it is a tranny problem. has this just recently started or gotten worse?

The problem is about the same for the last 20k miles. Describe your problem. What is the year, make, and model and mileage on your car?

94/accord/lx/143k---its not a problem its just how honda trannys shift especially over time. the thought i am having is that you mentioned something about a clunk when it shifts from 1st to 2nd. mine shifts the hardest from these gears, but no noises of any concern.......maybe after your thread marinates for a little, you might get some more info

don't even worry about. unless the trans oil smells like burn. all hondas do that ****. u can fill the bump when the gears change from 1st to 2nd sometime to 3rd. i had 1 dx and 1 ex and they both do the same thing. a friend of mine got the same thing and his trans hasn't had a problem and he is at 250.000k lol

my first accord (94 lx) was like that. i thought something was wrong with it, so i sold it. when i went around looking for another accord, i realized that they all shifted rough like that. the tranny shift rough and the engine sounds rough. i ended up getting a 5 spd though.

If this is normal Honda transmission behavior, then why can't HONDA fix it? My Honda Accord is a SIXTH generation vehicle. How many more generations have to pass before HONDA fixes their automatic hard shifting situations?

Check your front engine mount before you suspect transmission issues

I have a 2000 accord 4dr that was totalled and rebuilt, it still has the tranny from the accident it also shifts very hard shifting into first gear, and when shifting down you sometimes have to shift back into second then first to sencronize the gears, it also makes a weird noice while the rpms rise...although its a pita there is no seriouse problem with it besides excesive wear, which i will then have to repalce it,
