MPG

WOW I am just at WOW

Hit 405 miles and still no low gas light

Checked everything to make sure I was not dreaming but its for real

Going to keep a better record of this and keep track as if this keeps up then man might be able to help all those that are upset about low MPG

Peace

Re: MPG (hawkimport)

I managed to pull about 450miles one time before the gas light came on https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

After filling up i realized i was getting about 31 mpg which equates to about 527miles if i woulda drove it the tank dry. Having a 17gal fuel tank is a nice feature https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Confuc1ous 06-11-2005 03:47 PM

When i drove my 94 accord lx from georgia back home to NJ, man, i got about 450 on one tank, i was like wow...that is nowhere near my city mileage, or my normal shitty highway mileage either ! !

YeuEmMaiMai 06-11-2005 04:35 PM

I hit 479 on 14.5 gallons of fuel.

speedzone 06-11-2005 05:26 PM

97 Accord LX, 5 speed, stock: 35 MPG, everytime, like clockwork. No stop-and-go and no traffic jams helps a lot.

Re: (speedzone)

I usually get 26 between 70mph highway speeds and some stop-n-go, not bad for a 15 year old car with nearly 200K on her https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif .

i still get 26-27 mpg on the highway doing from 60-100 depending on the day, and it has 233k

92 accord f22a6 leaks oil like a bitch

Re: MPG (hawkimport)

I get 28.5 combined around town and commute with air full time. I was hopeing to see 32 and maybe in the fall without air and cool weather I might. Still happy with this figure. 97 lx with 125000 miles.

Drive with windows up in interstate

I get about 25 mpg city on average.
Full interstate driving, is about 31.5~32 mpg and with A/C might be about 31mpg

I used to get 28.5mpg consistently when I do long distance driving. eventually I figured out why I was getting poor gas milage. I was driving with my windows down trying to save gas, but it gives more wind resistance than anything else.

now, I always drive with windows rolled roll up with or without A/C on highway. I just roll them down when I am in the city. trust me. I never thought that driving with the windows down could have hurt me so much.

I drove my 90 dx when it still have the a1 motor in it that burnt like four quarts of oil a week to cedar point and back on one tank which was like 450 miles from where i live and we were doing close to 100 all the way give or take 10mph due to cops

i do a lot of long distance driving.. the most i have ever got on a single tank of gas was 556miles... -1/4 mile i had to walk to the gas station to get more gas.. but on average i will get 475 to a tank.. (mostly highway miles).. or 375 (city) https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Drive with windows up in interstate (accord2552)

Miles were done mostly stop and go in town only about 60 miles was Highway

Car is a:

1991 Honda Accord EX with F22A6 w/ 234k miles on it and a 5sp tranny from an F22A4

burns no oil
_____________
New O2 Sensor
New Clutch
New Half Shafts
new timing setup (both belts and bearings)
rebuilt front end (not lowered) bushings, ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings
factory 15"
2000 Ford Focus Muffler
Open bottom end to the air box
running High Millage oil (going to switch to Amsoil here soon)

I know that the MPG tread gets people cranky, but man if someone can help find a way for all these that are eating gas to get better MPG then there is a plus point to this. Not trying to rag on anything, but I have a heavy foot. And most of my cars that get an go eat gas fast.

Heck a 93 Century I had once ate gas faster then this and it had a smaller tank til I tinkered with it and finally got past the ECM limits by fooling it with resistors. Then got over 40mpg with it in town.

I guess I am into tinkering with things like this too much. But this is the first one that I have not had to tinker with resistors to get the MPG up there with my lead foot and keep the performance level I like.
