Radiator Fan Loses Power when in Ignition 3 - Honda Accord 1997 SE
First occurred to me that the radiator fan was not working when I was taking it for a drive. It was a warm day, and at a stop light I had seen that the car was over heating. Ran some test and the car only over heats when it idles, so the radiator fan does not come on when the car is over 230 degrees F. I thought it was the thermal sensor, but that wasn't either. Jumped the thermal sensor with a paper clip, the radiator fan turns on only when in ignition 1 and 2, but once you crank the car to ignition 3 the radiator fan looses power. Any takers?

Sure, I'm in
First - key has four positions 0-3. Zero, key comes out. 1 the radio comes on. 2 the blower, cel, oil and charge lights come on. 3 the starter is turning the engine over.
Second, BOTH fans should run anytime the key is to on and either thermo a is at ~196 + or the ac is on....assuming the ac actually works.
So, please check thermo a - BTW this is the green connector on the t-stat housing where the LOWER hose connects to the engine.
Which fan is running, drivers or pass side.....again when key is on, both fans runs but I'm trying to help with figuring out what issue you might be having and at least knowing which "fan" - your words - is working will help with this.

The passenger side fan is the one that loses power once I crank the ignition to 4 while the thermo-a sensor is jumped with a paper clip. Note: The A/C blower is not working.
