Default Main Relay Replacement

To people that have had the main relay issue on a 94, did you replace it or just try to solder it yourself? I know for a fact my problem is the main relay after doing some research yesterday, pulling the main relay, smacking it around a bit and BINGO the car starts. I just don't want to order one off ebay and run into the same problems. Anyone had any luck with the relays on ebay? There is one seller that warranty's the part for a year, but I live in Florida and really can't afford to have my car decide when its going to run! Thanks!!!!

I got mine from ebay. Had it in since July, no problems. They get pretty hot, so sometimes they go. I put holes on the cover to help it "breath"

You have two easy choices for free, solder it or let it hang down and hit it with a screwdriver handle each time it wont start or it dies while driving, hopefully not while approaching a stop sign or someones a$$.

And drill those hole in the cover for vents as mentioned, that is the whole problem with these things anyways.

For something like this, I would stick with the dealer. Granted it is a little more expensive than its aftermarket counterparts but you have to remember, you get what you pay for. I work for Honda and I will be the first to tell you that the A/M world sounds so much better but for an electrical that is the heart and soul of your car, I would stick with Honda parts for that.

I had a relay replaced ( a brown/tan gizmo that sits just below the dash drivers side ) but a year later my car would not start. (from being out in the sun ) as before.. I unfastened it and let it hang but zap strapped it to get it out of the way and I've had no problem for the past two years
When it gets very hot it opens ? and hence the problem. or so I was told. Hope this helps

really this is much more simple than you all make it out to be!

pull it down, resolder, drill holes in cover and replace!

vwah lah! car worky.
