when the car gets under half tank the car acts like there no gas in there, If I hit on the brakes coming to a stop rpms drop to zero car cuts off but it cranks right back up with no problem could the iacv start acting up when the gas level gets a certain point..im buring so much money keeping the car above a half tank and going to the mechanic....

Bad Oxygen Sensor with no code set in computer? It happened to me. Is your car doing any bogging down while in motion?

I had a similar problem, but mine ended up being a fuel pump. Hopefully its not that, but its a relatively easy repair to do yourself if it is

I took it to a mechanic and he said the fuel pressure was fine so I assuming I dont need a fuel pump. Only thing thats getting everybody I take it to is that it acts up under a half tank of gas or if I slam on brakes super hard...

Most likely the o2 sensor. The extra gas usage comes from the sensor sending bad info to the computer, which instructs the IACV to open and close at the wrong times, which creates a rich or lean mixture. I had the rpm drop like yours, too, but my car never cut off. That's because I would press the clutch and then feather the gas pedal to keep it barely running. Even with your tank full the thing can act up. I filled up and then went for an interstate drive. At first I thought things were great, but sure enough after about 7 miles I noticed the engine knocking and the rpm's dropping like a rock. It was the rich/lean
bogdown happening at 70 miles an hour. I nursed it back home and a few days later figured out what was wrong.

It's doable. Mine was underneath and I didn't feel like fooling with jacks stands or crawling up under there messing with the hot exhaust, so a found a little nondescript muffler shop and they installed the Denso one I purchased and charged me 10 bucks labor. If you try it, make sure to remove the old one while it is still good and hot. Too hot to touch is what I mean.
