Im about to purchase a f18b engine will it work with f23 tranny?
For anyone who is familiar with the f18b out of the honda toreo, Would my f23 manual tranny bolt up? The engine I found comes with an auto. And if you ask why a 1.8 vtec, well these motors are perfect for boost and it has less than 20k miles, I will boost 10psi daily.

Re: (TOAB)
IT came out of a 2001 honda toreo(sp,torneo) The car it came out of is the equivalent to a honda accord/ If I wanted torque, I would get out of the scene altogether. This engine has 17k miles and I can get for less than 600. Why not. I may decide to sell it/

Nothing is wrong with the F18B engine from the torneo.
Here's the engine specs:
Displacement, cc 1849
Engine model F18B
Max.power (Net), kw(PS)/rpm 140 ps (102.97 kw) / 6100 rpm
Max.torque(Net), N*m(kg*m)/rpm 17.2 kg*m (168.67 N*m) / 5000 rpm
Power density 9.07
Engine type Water cooling serial 4 cylinder SOHC16 valve
Engine information VTEC horizontal ranging belt driving
Fuel system Electrically controlled gasoline injection system (HONDA PGM-FI)
Turbocharger No
Fuel type Unleaded regular gasoline
LEV system (Low emission vehicle) No
Compression ratio 9.3
Bore, mm 85
Stroke, mm 81.5
Final gear ratio
Fuel consumption at 10-15 modes, l/100km 6.8
Fuel consumption at 60 km/h, l/100km
It has 5 less HP than the F22B1 and slightly less torque but good engine for the price.

NTM parts more readily available/cheaper.
I thought the f22 support was bad; I could only imagine for a f18

Its funny to even say torque when it comes to 4cyl stock honda engines, do you know where I can find a f22 with anywhere near 17k miles on it for 450, it has really low compression, it revs higher as well.

I guess you think there is a discernable difference in a honda motor with 17k on it as opposed to say 60k? There isnt going to be much of a difference at all. Sorry to burst your bubble. My del sol commuter car has 200,017 miles on it, doesnt burn a drop of oil, and the compression is perfect.
The F22 series motors all have low compression.
I dont understand why revving higher is a benefit? What does that have to do with anything?
Is an f22b1 a superior motor to a LS1 camaro motor because it revs higher?

Re: (v4lu3s)
I must have missed it, I am very tired afterall, but 6100 is not more than the f22 limit.
anyways I would say the r/s ratio is probably better for reving more rpm, but other than that I do not see huge benefits to the f18... unless its very cheap.
btw yeah you can find a variety of good f22's for 500 or less.
I am biased though.

Re: (Evil Nick M)
Do you have a small ***** or something? This is the 300th time ive seen you arguing off topic bs. I found a good deal and all I really wanted to know is will my current tranny fit. And maybe its just me but I would rather have a 2001 engine with 17k miles versus a 10 year old f22 with god only knows how many miles on it. Im not ******* the f22 by no means, I have also had a prelude and im by no means was I impressed with the torque on it even, so to me torque is not something im looking for with a honda. Revving higher keeps you in boost longer. And it is so childish to even compare a v-8 to a 4cylinder/ not to mention the 2003 IDRC all motor world record holder. Bisi Ezeriola, guess what it says on his block? F18b. Im not saying this motor is superior to any motor, but I dont believe anyone in this post so far has anywhere near enough knowledge of this motor to be dissing it.....

You can probably just put F20 or F22 rotating assembly into the F18 block and be fine.
