Idle problems in honda accord lxi
Hey guys,
As you can tell by my username I drive a dodge neon. However while I am rebuilding the engine a bit and adding some more bolt-ons, I am driving an 89 accord lxi I bought off a friend of mine for $75. All it needed was a new clutch. After installing the clutch however the car has developed an idle problem. Every once in a while when the clutch is depressed, the engine will rev up to around 3500 rpm and stay there. It usually only does this if the car is moving. When you come to a stop the engine will quickly return to around 1000 rpm or so. Any idea what the problem is????

Re: Idle problems in honda accord lxi (neon4LF)
Does the clutch engagement feel perfectly normal? From what you describe, it sounds like the disengagement isn't really fully happening. To fix this, an adjustment of the pedal can be done (carefully). Make sure the clutch slave is working correctly and properly installed, too. Am I close?

It seems like the clutch is engaging/disengaging fine. The engine' rpms just increase to around 3500 rpm when the clutch is depressed. It doesn't just jump right to 3500 immediately upon depressing the brake..It takes about ten-twenty seconds to creep up.
