How's the J30A accord engine?
I'm looking to purchase a used 98-01 accord with the v6. Can someone enlighten me on the durability of this engine? I've found a nice one but it has about 170k miles. Any issues that I should be aware of with the J30A? I'm not that familar with the J30A unlike the Bseries engines.

awesome daily driving engine, good mileage and all.
but honda desired to screw us over with american made alternator that doesn't last more than 80k, and the pre-mature tranny wear.

Re: How's the J30A accord engine? (YeuEmMaiMai)
Ok good info. Two items to look out for....weak auto trannys and delphi built alternators. I thought Honda actually made some V6 accords with 6 speed in this year but I guess not. I checked out carparts dot com and both the 2.3 and 3.0 liter auto trannys are pricey....in the 1k's. Ok, I will do more research.

Re: How's the J30A accord engine?
I own a 2000 model ra8 odyssey V6L
It has the J30a1 engine and has 289272km on it
It is great
No real issues with it
No transmission problems at all
Has the 5 auto with M mode and it quite tough
From what I have heard the drivetrain on this is virtually bulletproof
maybe if the accord fits this transmission swap it over
The engine is great
