How to fix "HO2S Heater" trouble code, and ABS code 1992 Accord EX
1992 Honda Accord EX 4dr 5spd 2.2FI
Ok i've had a check engine light on for awhile now, and i finally figured out how to check it and i did, and it came up with a # 41 code on the check engine light, and also, 4 short pulses on the ABS light(my ABS are also not working ever since i installed my new half shaft)
i looked the code up on the internet and it says HO2S heater. If i'm not mistaken, this is the O2 sensor code, right? does this mean i have to replace my o2 sensor? and also, would a bad o2 sensor cause a lack of power at certain times?. any insight would be appreciated.

The heater is built into the O2 sensor. Unplug the sensor, 2 of it's wires should be the same color as each other. Measure between those 2 on the sensor, it should be between 10 & 40 ohms. If it's open-circuit, then buy a new sensor. But if it's OK, then you can check out the wiring to power that heater. The ECU can't tell the difference between a blown heating element vs. a disconnected wire somewhere in that circuit.
A bad sensor can make it run bad, but you'd think it should throw code 1 in that case, for a bogus O2 sensor signal.

Re: How to fix "HO2S Heater" trouble code, and ABS code 1992 Accord EX (LookingForVTEC)
thanks alot guys, i'm amazed to get such educated results so quickly.
another question, what did i most likely do to the speed sensor when i replaced my CV halfshaft to throw my ABS off. (The ABS stopped working immediately after i replaced the shaft) and how hard do u think it is to fix. it's been awhile since it happened, and since it's not winter for awhile, i haven't been too concerned with it.

I can make a couple guesses about your ABS. Check each one out...
The sensor needs a toothed ring around the big part of the outer CV joint. You didn't buy a non-ABS axle, did you?
The sensor is magnetic. The business end of the sensor sits real close to that ring as it spins. Maybe that's be covered in metal shavings or some kind of crud?
The sensor wire is fastened to the steering knuckle & upper control arm (I don't have a '92, so ???) Then it probably goes thru a hole in the inner fender & plugs to a wiring harness in the engine compartment. Did you mash the wire & cut it? Maybe it's just unplugged?
Maybe the sensor IS bad. Did you hit it while getting the axle out? I don't think they're especially fragile, but who knows?
