Default Fuse box questions

Does anyone know exactly what the plug/clip/connector is for at the bottom right of the fuse box?

Background info.. Not really needed, just here for those who are interested... I'm having the intermitten starting issues, that I believe is caused by the ecu getting moisture in/on it. Fuel pump and relay both operate fine when the ecu let's them. The trouble happens after it rains and tends to hang around for a few days. Once it's dried up outside, I have no problem what so ever. I've read a few forums, including one in h-t I think, that people have fixed the problem by replacing ecu. I took a look under the hood and found the slightly melted or just really discolored connector. I can't find any real info on it. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with ecu and/or fuel system. Could it be what is getting the moisture and causing the ecu to act up? Sorry for being long winded. I'm not a huge fan of dropping money on a big ticket item, unless I'm positive that will fix problem.

That's the eld connector and it definitely isn't the cause of your issues. It's job is to detect how much amperage is going through the fuse box and to tell the alternator whether to charge in low output or high output. I suppose it's possible that the ecu is having issues. It's more likely either the icm or the ignition coil are bad. It's even possible the gasket for the distributor cap is so severely worn that's letting in moisture. When it's having issues starting(assuming it is cranking), it would be wise to check for spark.

96 honda accord i4 2.2l auto. Motor swapped with another factory motor by a previous owner. Sorry for not stating earlier, I'm rusty on the forum stuff.

I just now realized I left out some details that seems to point to ecu. Normal day without a starting problem goes like this... Key in ignition, then to on position, (fuel pump hums, cel goes out and Drive light flashes green for a sec,[all of this in like 1 sec]) proceed to start car.

Now when the car doesn't want to start. Key in, turn to on. Cel stays on. Drive light does not flash. Fuel pump does not prime. So I wait. Say 5 Or so mins. Cel goes off. Drive flashes green and fuel pump hums. I'm good to start. I don't try to start it till I've heard the fuel pump hum. If I try to start before then, it will just turn over. No fire.

Does the connector supply power for the ecu? Or is it one that just reports info back to the ecu?

I just got back from the junk yard. I picked up an ecu with matching codes. Seems to be doing fine for the moment. Will update if things change.

Open the old ECU. Does it have burned spots or smell like rotten fish? If so, your capacitors are failing/bad.

Anywhere specific to look? Or just glance over the whole thing?

Nvm. Found it. It basically just bent over sideways when I touched it.

Sorry it was a typo. It was suppose to read "eld connector" not "ecu connector".

One month update. Basically everything is working flawlessly. Hasn't had a hesitation starting or any other malfunction.

Will update if anything changes. Thanks for the replies and good luck on your next project.
