Honda 88 Accord -- Car stall when shift gear after start-up (cold start)
I am wondering if anyone can help me out on this, 2 local mechanics and 1 local honda dealership tried and still not able to 100% resolve the problem :
I have a 1988 Honda Accord automatic, only with 130,000 km plus and generally runs very well. Latyely, it has been giving me this "cold start" prblem. Actually, I don't have the problem "starting" the car. It was just that when I shift gear to "drive" or "reverse" to take it out of the parking lot --- so long as I do not throttle -- the car will stall about 60% of the time and higher % of occurance if it was a first start in the morning or after work. I know for a fact that if I throttle as I change gear the car will move on without any more problem. However, I just don't think that I have to do that every time. having said that, after stalling the first time, if I start the car again, I would have no problem at all. It seems to be with the very first start.
2 local mechanics could not pin point to any particular problem -- I did changed new wire and new spark plugs. The local Honda dealship changed the PCV valve and some other related problems were fixed and this particular problem improved a bit on the first week after repair but is getting back to what it was (Still better than it was).
I am thinking that the problem may be somewhere in the fuel system. My next step is to try to change the fuel filter, but have not done so yet.
Any suggestion or pointer to the right direction ?
Thanks

Re: Honda 88 Accord -- Car stall when shift gear after start-up (teamster)
huh? Limited??? Never heard of such a thing..
It can only be a DX, LX, LX-i, or SE-i unless you live outside the US in this case it would be a DX, EX, EX-i, or SE-i.... Is the car F/I or carb?
